In recent years, thousands of teens and young adults from all over Israel as well as from abroad, migrate to the Jerusalem city center looking for stimulation and social interaction. Unfortunately, to date, there are no venues which provide exciting cultural activities that will attract these youth in downtown Jerusalem. This has resulted in risky behaviors such as smoking, drinking and other related negative behaviors.

The Sobar Center will provide a space where youth can learn, create, listen to and perform music, that is also a safe space for Jerusalemís young people, including peer visitors from abroad. The Sobar Music Center will be a smoke free and alcohol free environment for teens and young adults ages 16-24 in downtown Jerusalem.

The Center will attract positive role models who will work with the youth in the field of the Arts. Staff will consist of professional teachers, musicians, artists and peer counselors who will form an interdisciplinary support system for program participants. The Center will provide structured programming in the form of workshops related to a variety of themes in the field of music as well as workshops based on personal growth and development. Workshops will take place during the day. Music performances by youth and for youth will take place in the evenings along with other music-related activities.
